to Castle Ten!
- "Under the
laws of hospitality, the castle is open to you. Here, you'll
find food, shelter....and much more. What benefits you reap from
your stay here depends entirely on your personality, your talents,
and, of course, your efforts.
- Should you seek
food, go to the Feasting
you may find exotic delights to tantalize the palate of both
the most humble of travelers and the true connoisseur of cuisine.
- Should you simply
require rest and resupplying from your tiresome journeys, you
will find the opportunity for such in our Leisure Hall.
- Be you a scholar
looking for further enlightenment, we offer you scrolls and manuscripts
of knowledge from the four corners of the land, diligently gathered,
guarded, and preserved by our dedicated monks in our many monasteries.
Merely ask any of the servants to direct you to the Hall of Scholars.
- Since this is
the kingdom's capitol, much of it is devoted to training the
realm's future workers, craftsmen and leaders. Thus, if such
be your desire, you will find much to occupy you here. Enter
the Hall of
Guilds to begin
your training. As your training progresses, you'll find many
doors of opportunity open to you, and you may advance to higher
and more important positions within the kingdom. The Great Charter shows everyone's current
position in the Guild System.
- But beware, although
I have decreed such training open to all, commoners and nobles
alike, the journey to success is long and fraught with perils.
Many have fallen before reaching their goals...and some end their
lives in The
wish you good fortune, but only the diligent succeed.
- Once you are in
a guild, you should choose an Avatar (see individual guilds
in the Hall of Guilds)
- The land has many
beasts, both known and strange, and guild members may form a
special bond with such, according to their current levels. See
- The War Room is open to all but has
been especially designed for the warriors of the kingdom. There,
one will find activities for the brave and bold, as well as all
necessary equipment in the Armory.
- Should you seek
riches, perhaps your skills will permit you to unravel the mysteries
of the Treasure
Room. You must
be agile of body and keen of mind to be successful there.
- Oh, yes! Be warned.
This is a huge and ancient structure, much like a labyrinth,
built over six centuries ago by my ancestors. More than one wayfarer,
not familiar with its many nooks and crannies, is said to have
disappeared, never to be seen again. Not even I know all its
rooms and halls. It is rumored there are secret doors and passageways
that lead to....well, no one knows. So, take care.
- And finally, before
I leave you to your endeavors, I would be remiss in my duties
as your host if I did not at least mention.....The Legend.
The castle is haunted, or so The Legend would have
you believe. An ancestor of mine...."Maddy" her name
was, I seem to remember....apparently she became distraught at
not making the knights' cheerleading squad and led a very troubled
life thereafter. Poor woman, the story goes that she eventually
ended up in the company of a number of unsavory characters (8th graders.
What can you expect?!!),
including two who were known as 'Tori the Toothless' and 'Brianna
the Yakker!'. Egads! That story always sends a shiver down my
spine. Well, anyhow, her spirit is said to wander the halls of
the castle on dark and dreary nights, doing cheerleading routines
in front of mirrors, and The Legend tells that she will
take you to some unknown and mysterious place if you can catch
her by surprise. Whether 'tis a good or evil place, The Legend
says naught. Stories told to frighten children, if you ask me!......................Still,
you'd do well to be observant at all times. Strange things can
be seen and heard within these walls.
- Again, welcome,
to Castle Ten."
